The Saga of Cherokee Cavern
by
James L. Febuary and M. Eugenia Hill
Two young brothers, Ben and Danny, go in search of an
ancient cave on Spencer's Mountain, deep in the Appalachians,
following a map given to them by their Great Grandmother.
Everyone in the Appalachians believes the cave, called Cherokee
Cavern, exists only in Indian Folklore.
They have not told their parents of their plan fearing they will
not be allowed to go. They set out, following their map, filled
with enthusiasm and confidence. Finally they recognize one of the
key landmarks described on the map. Using the landmark as a
guide, they discover the entrance to the cavern is down a cliff,
hidden from the site of anyone who did not have the map. Using
all their rock-climbing skills to reach the cave entrance, they
continue on, filled with excitement and awe.
What they find is beauty, death, and danger. When Danny suddenly
disappears down a deep rift in the floor of the cave, Ben must
get help . . . but how?
The adventure that follows puts not only their two lives at risk,
but the lives of many others including their father.
This is a story that will keep you reading from start to
finish.
