The 100,000 year old remains of two Homo erectus and a Homo sapiens, who should not have lived or died together, are discovered by American anthropologists, Dr. Levi Bernstein and Dr. John Hargraves, and an Israeli, Steven Reisner in Israeli occupied Palestine.

Adding to the enigma, they find a perfect six-centimetre cubed diamond clutched in the skeletal hand of the Homo sapiens youth. Later that night, the American anthropologists discover an inner chamber within the cube which contains inscriptions that they partly decipher. These include details of sources of energy and propulsion far beyond our current technology.

As they struggle to understand the inscriptions and the purpose of the cube, it is stolen. This triggers an international race between the Israelis, Palestinians and Americans to recover the cube.

The Palestinians are unaware of the priceless value of the inscriptions and seek only the value of the diamond. The energy and munitions industries seek the cube to destroy it, fearing a threat to their survival. The US State Department and CIA become involved, deploying an elite Special Forces unit. The President of the United States Seeks the aid of the United Nations in recovering the cube. They become totally involved after they understand that the purpose of the cube is to provide technical information for the benefit of humanity. It includes data to prevent the problems of spreading civilization: overpopulation, violence, religious and racial paranoia, economic and ecological vandalism and greed.

U.N. environmental scientists conclude that, due to global warming, our civilization is now on the edge of collapse, which we are unable to stop, alone. With time running out, the critical question is: will the cube be recovered? If so, how?
