As a young man, Lawrence Tierney joined the Royal Navy and for a period of time served onboard Inshore Minesweepers based at South Queensferry on the Firth of the Forth in Scotland. It was during this time that he volunteered to serve in the Advanced Observation Brigade and was accepted for training. After leaving the Navy he became an electronics engineer and spent 14 years working for a large provincial newspaper in the U.K. before moving into engineering management and contract working. He has lived and worked in many different countries, and currently spends his time writing and visiting family in California and England. The author has two children from his first marriage. Lawrence' first book, "Harry's War" was a fictionalized account of his experience in the Malayan Emergency. The Sound of Death is his second book followed by The Diamond Conspiracy, and now Forgotten Treasure, his latest novel.
